R44 helicopter type rating course allows you to fly the Robinson R44. Designed for those holding a helicopter pilot’s licence with a rating for another type of helicopter. The Robinson R44 is a versatile, easy to operate and maintain helicopter. It is ideal for training, tourist and business flights. It is functional and, above all, has a low operating cost, making it more accessible. It is characterised by its stability and excellent visibility in all directions. The R44 accommodates four people (pilot and three passengers) on board, plus there is space for hand luggage under each seat. All these factors contribute to the Robinson R44 being the best-selling helicopter in the world for many years.

Training


What does the training look like?

Theory

The theoretical training includes 8 hours of lectures discussing, among other things:

  • Construction of the helicopter.
  • Limitations
  • Weighing and balancing the helicopter.
  • Flight planning and monitoring.
  • Emergency procedures
  • Hazard awareness training.
  • Pre-flight inspection and ground handling.

Practical training

Practical training includes 5 hours. The training will familiarise you with your new helicopter, its differences in mechanics, technology, performance and aerodynamics. It covers flight preparation and basic manoeuvring of the helicopter, as well as basic and advanced autorotations. We always pay great attention to emergency procedures during training.

Possession of a valid PPL(H).

Possession of a valid Class II medical certificate
